Petersburg news, Virginia news.

The gunman who fired the fatal shot that killed a 10-year-old boy watching TV in his bed earlier this month remains at large, authorities in Virginia said.

K'Von Morgan succumbed to his injuries following the shooting that occurred at around 1 a.m. on June 17 outside his Pecan Acres apartment.

Police said that the pre-teen was watching TV in his bed with a friend when several stray bullets pierced through the window frame.

“It makes no sense that a child had to lose his life by being inside his bedroom, doing what he was doing, and preparing to go to bed for the night,” said Petersburg Police Chief Travis Christian. “It's ridiculous.”

K'Von was about to start his 5th-grade school year, his grieving family said. He loved breakdance, football, and beatboxing.

“My nephew did not deserve this by no means necessary,” K'Von's uncle said.

“He still had his whole life ahead of him and was the light in every dark room.”
