A South Carolina mother was arrested in connection with last month's drowning of her daughter.
39-year-old Taisha Moody was charged with murder/homicide by child abuse and four counts of unlawfully placing a child at risk or causing harm over the May 1 incident that claimed Aria Moody's life.
The 6-year-old's body was pulled from the Edisto River on May 3 after two days of search involving multiple state and local agencies.
Investigators with the Colleton County Sheriff's Office initially concluded that Aria was playing in shallow water near Mars Old Field landing when she was swept away by the current.
The mother's arrest unfolded on May 17 following further investigation.
