North Carolina teen drowns while rescuing child at SC beach

A North Carolina teen drowned Tuesday while helping a child that was struggling on a bodyboard at a South Carolina beach.

Tre'Sean Snow, 16, was caught by the current and drowned while helping the child at Huntington Beach State Park, the Georgetown County Coroner's Office said.

The Fayetteville, North Carolina native was visiting the beach with a band of his friend when they spotted the child in trouble and rushed to the rescue.

    “Please keep the Snow family in your thoughts and prayers,” said Coroner Chase Ridgeway in a statement.

    The incident is the second drowning of a rescuer during an attempt to save others in South Carolina.

    On Saturday, 35-year-old Caleb Cohen drowned while trying to rescue a child at High Falls County Park at Lake Keowee, authorities said.
