Authorities in Torrington, Connecticut arrested a man who called 911 to report drowning his mother during their usual walk at Harrybrooke Park on Monday.

Eric Meagan, 34, was charged with murder after he admitted to drowning 56-year-old Victoria Palmer at Still River to “make the demons stop.”

The woman's body was found floating face down in the water with Meagan sitting near the shore on a rock.

Meagan suffered from “significant mental health issues” and was prescribed a new anxiety medication that made his condition worse.
