The search for a missing Missouri ER doctor came to a tragic end Tuesday after his body was found in northwest Arkansas.
Dr. John Forsyth, 49, vanished on May 21 after texting his fiancee at around 7 a.m. that he had just finished his shift at Mercy Hospital and would see her “in a little bit.”
Authorities said Wednesday that Forsyth died from a gunshot wound and that a kayaker discovered the body in a Benton County pond.
The doctor's brother said that he had never missed a day of work or been late in his 15 years of career until the day he went mysteriously missing.
“We're in shock. I suspect foul play,” Richard Forsyth said. “He wouldn't miss a shift even if his eyeballs were hanging out of their sockets. He's punctual in the extreme. It was an immediate red flag.”
The father-of-8 left behind his laptop, cellphones, and wallet inside his luxury RV that was later found abandoned 700 feet from the Cassville Aquatic Center at a yard waste site.
Forsyth's disappearance came three days after his engagement to his new fiancee.
