LSU Tigers basketball team's celebration at White House halted for moments after player collapses

An LSU Tigers women's basketball player suffered a medical emergency during the team's celebration at the White House Friday.

Freshman Forward Sa'Myah Smith collapsed for several moments during the events before she was helped to a chair by first responders and wheeled out of the scene.

  • The team's coach, Kim Mulkey, later assured fans that Smith was doing OK but very embarrassed about the situation.

    “That's not the first time that's happened. Not to her but to a lot of folks standing on that stage,” President Joe Biden commented on the incident.

    The President and First Lady hosted a ceremony for the team to celebrate their 2022-2023 NCAA Division I national championship.
