A Chicago boy is dead after a piece of furniture fell on him inside his Little Village home on Tuesday afternoon.
The tragic incident occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m. at a home in the 2800 block of South Pulaski Road, authorities said.
The 3-year-old boy, identified as Johan Garcia, died shortly after the incident.
“Further investigation indicates that a piece of furniture fell on the victim,” a statement from the Chicago Police Department read.
“The incident has been classified as a death investigation and Area Four Detectives are investigating.”
Cook County authorities later revealed that the toddler became trapped under a dresser. His death was ruled as an accident.
