A California mother and two young girls were killed in a tragic crash on Mather's Day, authorities said.
The victims, who were from the same family, were traveling in a red Chevrolet Suburban when it was struck in the left rear by a Tesla and sent into the center divider.
The impact overturned the Suburban ejecting five of its nine occupants. A sixth passenger, identified as 31-year-old Cecilia Villalobos, was partially ejected and died at the scene.
Two girls also died at the scene, they were 8 and 12 years old, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Jason Montez.
“So, this was a traumatic scene with injuries of young people and a mother on Mother's Day, it's heart-wrenching,” Montez said.
Montez added that the survivors sustained critical injuries with two airlifted to a trauma center.
