Hours after his long-awaited retirement, a North Dakota mail carrier was killed in a tragic car crash late last month.
Ken Anderson was planning for his first summer in retirement on April 21, his last day of work when he lost control of his jeep and drove into a ditch.
The mail carrier sustained fatal wounds but still managed to call 911 and say “Help me.”
“He enjoyed his job, that's for sure,” Anderson's widow Judy said. “I just figure about four hours he would've been home, approximately, 'cause he was already in the area.”
Andreson left behind his wife of five decades and five children. He had been working as a mail carrier for 28 years.
“To lose your dad so suddenly, it's a little bit heartbreaking,” son Patrick Anderson said.
