Pennsylvania teen admits to torturing, killing man found burned & mutilated in field

A 19-year-old Pennsylvania man has confessed to his role in the gruesome murder of a 38-year-old New York man who was found bound and mutilated in a field in 2021.

Mailk Weems pleaded guilty on Friday to second-degree murder charges over the 2021 death of Juan Jose Gotay.

Gotay was kidnapped by Weems and three other individuals and tortured to death about four months before his remains were found in a Potter County field in April 2021.

  • Detectives said that the victim's body was bound with an electrical cord and had visible burns, gunshots, and trauma injuries. The victims' ribs and fingers were reportedly fractured.

    Prosecutors alleged that Weems perpetrated the gruesome murder with the help of Thomas Boviard, Eddie Marte, and a juvenile.

    All three suspects pleaded guilty to murder and kidnapping charges.
