An innocent toddler was shot and killed in a senseless drive-by shooting while standing in front of a San Antonio home, police said Monday.
Shots were fired at a home on the city's north side at around 1:30 p.m., Police Chief William McManus said.
“This was a pathetic act by someone who really didn't care who was going to be hurt inside that house, who could have been hurt inside that house,” McManus said.
“A 2-year-old baby, who happened to be standing in front of the door, was struck down.”
McManus said that a preliminary investigation indicated that the victim was with five other children, aged between 2 and 6 years old, inside the residence where a woman babysat neighborhood kids.
Detectives have information about the suspected gunman, McManus revealed.
They are currently tracking down a black Chevy truck with chrome rims and a temporary license plate spotted at the scene at the time of the shooting.
