Woman, teen girl dead in Brooklyn home fire; foul play suspected

Authorities have launched a homicide investigation after an early Tuesday blaze that killed a woman and a teen girl inside a Brooklyn home.

At least 60 firefighters responded to the three-story home on Fountain Avenue near Liberty Avenue in Cypress Hills at around 2:15 a.m.

It took about an hour to extinguish the flames, according to the FDNY. A 36-year-old woman was found dead inside the charred structure.

A 17-year-old was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

  • Three other children, aged 14, 10, and 9 years old, remain hospitalized at the same hospital in either serious or critical condition.

    First responders also found a man inside the home and transported him to Nassau University Medical Center. He is said to be in stable condition.

    Investigators said foul play is suspected in the fire after finding an accelerant at the scene.

    The six victims are all related to each other but their identities were not disclosed.
