A Texas mother was charged after she allegedly left her two young children unattended and went to the gym Thursday.
25-year-old Ana Angeles Leon was arrested, charged with child endangerment, and booked into the Webb County Jail over the incident that was reported by a concerned neighbor.
Police responded to the home at around 9 p.m. after the neighbor heard the kids crying in the apartment.
The children, aged 5 and 8, were found unsupervised. They told officers that their father was at work and their mother went to the gym.
“Adults need to remember that it is against the law and it is a crime to leave children unattended, even if they think they're asleep,” Loredo Police Department Official Jose Espinoza said.
“Accidents can happen that can possibly lead to injuries of children if they are left alone.”
