Murder suspect turns himself in to Charlotte police after being mistakenly set free

A murder suspect in Charlotte, North Carolina turned himself in to police after he was mistakenly released from jail Thursday.

Jaylan Noah Davis walked back into the Mecklenburg County Detention Center Saturday, police said in a statement.

  • Davis, charged with murder and other violent felonies over the 2022 killing of Arthur Mikulski, was released due to an incorrect court order indicating that his charges had been dismissed.

    “I am grateful that it appears no one was harmed as a result of this mishap, though I am sure it was an emotional rollercoaster for the families involved,” Sheriff Garry McFadden said.

    “Our criminal justice system will never be flawless, but we will learn from this experience and improve our processes accordingly.”
