Floridian identified as man who plunged to his death from Rome hotel's roof

Italian authorities said a tourist who leaped to his death from the roof of a hotel in Rome was an American citizen from Tampa, Florida.

31-year-old Javier Francisco Rullan Rubert was reportedly visiting the Italian capital on vacation when tragedy struck Monday.

The Lithia resident is believed to have climbed onto the roof of the IH Roma Z3 Hotel where he had been staying and jumped 100 feet to his death at around 4:30 p.m.

    Authorities believe Rubert was alone when he got into the roof of the high-rise. They said that he did not leave a note for his loved ones.

    Police said that Rubert's tragic death was likely a suicide but an investigation into the incident continues.
