Residents forced to evacuate after train hauling ethanol derails in Minnesota

A train carrying ethanol derailed in the town of Raymond, Minnesota early Thursday forcing residents to evacuate.

22 cars of the BNSF train derailed at around 1 a.m. with four cars hauling flammable ethanol catching fire.

Authorities ordered evacuations for the entire town of around 800 residents; they are expected to return to their homes later today.

    “We will have our team here until this is cleaned up,” she added.

    Officials with Environmental Protection Agency responded to the scene to start monitoring the air for toxic chemicals.
