Georgia man admits to choking ex-girlfriend to death, burning body in car

A Georgia man was charged with murder after he allegedly admitted to killing his ex-girlfriend and burning her body last week.

Jahir Alejandro Conteras Sagahon told detectives that he and Rubi Maldonado Nava got into a heated argument in front of their child at the victim's home before he choked and killed her.

The 29-year-old man then put the victim's body inside her car and traveled to Oglethorpe County where he set the vehicle ablaze.

  • Nava's vehicle was later found severely burned by Oglethorpe County Sheriff's deputies who found skeletal remains inside it.

    The crime was raised to authorities' scrutiny by someone who requested a welfare check at Nava's home fearing that she may be hurt by her former boyfriend.

    Sagahon was suffering “severe burns on his face and hands” when police arrested him for questioning and ended up confessing to the murder.
