Model who leapt to death from Miami balcony struggled with addiction, mental issues: Brother says

Miami news, Florida news.

Authorities are investigating the death of a model who fell to his death from a Miami apartment balcony last week as a possible suicide.

But Jeff Thomas' relatives believe the 35-year-old's death was not a suicide after he was found dead outside his apartment building on March 8.

“This was not a suicide,” cousin Meghan Rae said. “To report otherwise is a complete disregard to his character and who he was.”

“The information being published is false and defamatory. No further comments will be made by our family. Please respect our privacy and his memory during this difficult time.”

“He was in good spirits and was excited to tell me about his move to Miami and the next chapter in his life. He had started a new business – though I didn't know what it was yet.”

The late model's brother shared earlier this week that he struggled with addiction and mental health issues.

“As you have followed through the years, Jeff traveled the world and lived life to the fullest. What you may not know, is Jeff struggled with addiction and mental health challenges, which ultimately led to his tragic passing,” Skylar Thomas said.
