An innocent girl was fatally struck by gunfire while sleeping in her bed Tuesday, Georgia authorities said.

A stray bullet flew through the 11-year-old's window when a gang-related shooting erupted outside her Spalding Heights apartment at around 1 a.m.

“One of the rounds that were fired at the intended target missed, traveled through the victim's bedroom window, and struck her killing her instantly,” said Sheriff Darrell Dix.

“All indications are that it was a gang-related shooting and he was shooting at another person who pulled into the parking lot, from about 100 yards away, with a rifle and was just spraying bullets,” the sheriff added.

Dix said that Parks should be considered “armed and dangerous”: “It's just the way he is. He's a monster.”

About the victim, Dix said that she was from Louisiana and was “very well-liked and very talented.”
