Five family members were found shot, four of them to death, inside a New Richmond residence early Monday morning, authorities said.
Deputies with the Clermont County Sheriff's Office visited the home shortly after 9:30 a.m. to serve legal documents related to a civil case and heard shots being fired inside the residence.
They requested the assistance of the Sheriff's Special Response Team and forced entry into the home where they found a massacre scene.
Four victims were dead while a 20-year-old woman, identified as Samantha Cain, was hospitalized in critical condition.
The deceased victims were Samantha's parents, Steve and Theresa Cain, aged 50 and 46, and her 13-year-old brother, Ethan Cain. The fifth victim was identified as 74-year-old William Felton, Theresa's father.
“There was no indication of ever anything being wrong, no telltale signs at all,” a friend of Steve Cain, who performed as a vocalist for local band Critical Khaos, said.
“We just pray for him and his family and in the end find some peace and that's all we are hoping for.”
