A Georgia contract worker died early Tuesday after being electrocuted while working on powerlines, the Muscogee County Coroner's Office said.
26-year-old Cody Lange was pronounced dead at 12:17 a.m. at St. Francis Hospital's Emergency Room shortly after the tragic incident that unfolded near 1400 Double Churches Road.

Following the lineman's death, Southern Company released a statement.
“A contract worker was injured Monday while conducting electrical work and they were transported to an area hospital,” the statement read.
“Unfortunately, we understand the injury resulted in a fatality. Our thoughts and prayers are with the worker's family and co-workers.”
