Young Philadelphia mom charged after toddler dies in her care from 'violent abuse'

A 23-year-old Philadelphia woman was arrested and charged with the abuse of children that resulted in the death of a 3-year-old girl last week.

Officers responded to a home at the 400 block of North 50th Street in Philadelphia over an unresponsive child in a bathtub.

The girl was pronounced dead at the scene with officers noticing obvious wounds on her little body. 23-year-old Kiarali Rodriguez-Ayala was the caretaker of the child but not her mother.

    The woman was charged with aggravated assault endangering the welfare of children, simple assault, and other related counts.

    The DA's office said that the children suffered “violent abuse”; the girl's death is being investigated.
