A pregnant Washington mother was taken into custody on murder charges after her toddler was found “very stiff” and with “no pulse” Sunday night.
Officers responded to reports of an unresponsive boy inside an apartment in the 3200 block of South Mason Avenue at 7:35 p.m. Sunday, police said in a statement.
“Life-saving measures were immediately started but the child was declared deceased on scene,” the statement added.
25-year-old Ivey Lewis, the victim's mom, reportedly called a friend requesting help before that person called 911.
The child was found lying next to his 1-year-old brother “flat on his back with his knees slightly bent.” He had “multiple bruises on his face that appeared to be fresh.”
“The victim's face was discolored, bruised, and had obvious burn marks on the entirety of his face. Officers also observed cuts on the victim's face,” the affidavit read.
Investigators said that Lewis admitted to beating the child. The meth-addicted mother also used a taser, later found on the kitchen table, on the boy's chest.
