An elderly Florida Lyft driver was found dead in Okeechobee County, North Carolina after he went missing on January 30.
74-year-old Gary Levin's last fare was from Delray Beach to Okeechobee where his remains were located on Saturday, near the County's Agri-Civic Center.
“My dad was truly a one-of-a-kind person,” Levin's grieving daughter said on Facebook. “The stories I have received about him from friends, family, and complete strangers over the last week have lifted me up more than you can ever realize.”
The victim's red Kia Stringer was tracked down to Miami, Okeechobee, north Florida, and then to North Carolina where Rutherford County deputies chased the driver before he crashed and was apprehended without further incidents.
The suspect was identified as Matthew Flores, and although his connection to Levin's murder remains unconfirmed, investigators revealed that he was already wanted for the Jan. 24 murder of a Wauchula man among other offenses.
