Weeks after he disappeared from a friend's home, the body of a missing 14-year-old Texas boy was found decomposing in a field over the weekend.
The devastated mother of Carlos Lugo said that she last saw him alive on January 21, when she drove him to a friend's apartment.
His body was located on Saturday in a field, only five minutes from the friend's apartment, police said.
Investigators pronounced him dead at the scene. The medical examiner's office confirmed Lugo's identity adding that he died from multiple gunshot wounds.
“It's not a place I would want to be,” Houston Police Department Homicide Detective Kyle Heaverlo said. “I would say there's probably a higher likelihood foul play is involved than not.”
Family friend Nancy Salias added, "Carlos meant a lot to my family, and it's a family. I just hope that they find whoever did it to him.”
