Missing Houston teen, 14, found shot to death, decomposing in field

Weeks after he disappeared from a friend's home, the body of a missing 14-year-old Texas boy was found decomposing in a field over the weekend.

The devastated mother of Carlos Lugo said that she last saw him alive on January 21, when she drove him to a friend's apartment.

His body was located on Saturday in a field, only five minutes from the friend's apartment, police said.

  • Investigators pronounced him dead at the scene. The medical examiner's office confirmed Lugo's identity adding that he died from multiple gunshot wounds.

    “It's not a place I would want to be,” Houston Police Department Homicide Detective Kyle Heaverlo said. “I would say there's probably a higher likelihood foul play is involved than not.”

    Family friend Nancy Salias added, "Carlos meant a lot to my family, and it's a family. I just hope that they find whoever did it to him.”
