Idaho boy mauled to death by 4 dogs; mom sustains critical injuries

A pack of dogs attacked a boy and his mother in Idaho killing the child, authorities said Saturday.

Just before 6 p.m., two Rottweilers and two mixed-breed dogs attacked the pair inside a Sandy Road home in Fort Hall, home to the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes.

The victims were rushed to the Portneuf Medical Center where the child succumbed to his injuries. His mother's condition was not determined.

  • Tribal authorities put down the four dogs involved in the attack. A GoFundMe page identified the victims as Emily and her son Kellan revealing that the woman “did everything in her power to protect Kellan from that attack.”

    The fundraiser reported that the mother, who also has a daughter, underwent emergency surgery and remains in the ICU after suffering “nerve damage and a ruptured artery in her right arm as well as damage to the back of her head, left arm, and back.”

    “I know this won't heal the hurt but at least it can help so she doesn't have to worry about being able to provide for her daughter while she heals,” the page states.
