A Florida teen was killed Saturday in a horse training accident at Tampa Bay Downs track, authorities said.
The victim, identified as 19-year-old Daniel Quintero, was pronounced dead at around 7 a.m. A track announcer reported that the deadly accident involved two horses.
“Exercise rider Daniel Quintero, 19, died as a result of a training accident this morning at Tampa Bay Downs,” Tampa Bay Downs said.
“The entire racetrack community expresses its condolences to his family members and friends. The track will observe a moment of silence at 12:20 p.m. in honor of Quintero.”
In a separate statement, the Tampa Bay Downs added: “Jockeys and their valets observe a moment of silence in honor of 19-year-old exercise rider Daniel Quintero, who died this morning in a training accident.”
