Seattle news, Washington news.

A Seattle robbery victim succumbed to his injuries days after he was hit with a hammer, prosecutors said.

The 53-year-old man was hit to the right side of his head last Friday at around 2:15 p.m. by 34-year-old Christopher Martin who was after the victim's backpack.

Martin was arrested shortly after the attack; the King County Prosecutor's Office plans to upgrade the charges against him following the victim's death.

McNerthney added that Martin, who has a criminal history of assault, robbery, and theft convictions, should not have been free in the first place.

“Prosecutors believe that the same people who argued for his release should also be accountable to the public and the court either to show the progress or the lack of it, which was the case here,” he said.
