Monterey Park mass shooting leaves 10 dead after Asian gunman opened fire at Lunar New Year's revelers

Authorities are looking for the suspected gunman who opened fire at a Lunar New Year's celebration in Monterey Park late Saturday killing ten people and wounding a dozen others.

Police said that the mass shooting occurred shortly after 10:20 p.m. on the first night of the annual Lunar New Year Celebration at a ballroom dance studio on West Garvey Avenue.

“When officers arrived on scene, they observed numerous individuals, patrons of the location, pouring out of the location, screaming,” LA County Sheriff Capt. Andrew Meyer said.

    Witnesses claimed that the lone gunman used a machine gun to perpetrate the massacre. The manhunt for the suspect, described as an Asian man aged between 30 and 50, continued as of Sunday morning.

    “We are utilizing every resource to apprehend this suspect in what we believe to be one of the county's most heinous cases,” Sheriff Robert Luna said.
