The human remains found inside a donation bin in Lugoff, South Carolina were identified as a missing woman who was last seen alive in March.
Lesley Lemoine, 47, went missing shortly after her release from jail, her daughter said. She showed up on March 29 at the daughter's home asking for a ride.
“The last time I saw her, I was not very nice to her. I said a lot of things that I probably shouldn't have,” Hannah Gates said of the encounter.
After months of disappearance, the “virtually mummified” body of Lemoine was discovered inside a donation bin behind a local motel Saturday after a passerby noticed a foul odor.
“The donation bin had likely not been emptied in many years,” Coroner David West said adding that a cause of death was not determined.
Gates said that looking for her missing mother had changed her opinion of drug addicts like Lemoine.
“I wish I was more uplifting...I wish I said 'I love you' and 'I'm here for you'. I wish I could've told her she was more than what she was. I truly understand she was just sick,” Gates said.
