A Florida man is facing charges after police found the decomposing body of his elderly mother inside their shared Brevard County home on Jan.1.
The body of 80-year-old Kathleen Ruhlander was discovered in her bed when officers conducted a welfare check on the home requested by the decedent's two grandchildren.

Investigators said that family members didn't hear from the woman in weeks and when they tried to get inside the home, her son did not allow them.
Police arrested Robert Edward Ruhlander, 53, and charged him with failure to report his mother's death to the medical examiner.
Ruhlander was booked into the Brevard County Jail with his bond set at $5,500.
