Authorities in Stamford, Connecticut have arrested a 26-year-old convicted felon after unearthing his child's remains at a local park Monday.

The victim was identified as 2-year-old Liam Rivera. The Medical Examiner's Office ruled his death a homicide with blunt force trauma to the head as the main cause.

Edgar Ismalej-Gomez, the toddler's father, had a history of child abuse and was prohibited from approaching Liam after he broke his arm when he was just an infant.
