Alabama man busted over fatal fentanyl overdose during Florida bachelor party

Authorities in Alabama charged a Mountain Brook man with the fatal overdose of another at a Florida bachelor party.

The incident took place on May 14 at a Santa Rosa Beach residence where 26-year-old Thomas Gleason was found unresponsive and later died from a fentanyl overdose.

Three other men lost consciousness while officers tended to Gleason at the scene but they survive the ordeal.

  • A subsequent investigation determined that the deadly dose of fentanyl given to the partygoers was hidden in cocaine that was provided by 26-year-old John Nabors.

    “Our Criminal Investigations Bureau was able to tie the deadly dose Gleason took to Nabors,” Walton County Sheriff Michael Adkinson said.

    “This case is tragic and certainly one we want to bring to a successful prosecution for Thomas’ family.”

    Nabors turned himself in on November 30 and was released after posting a $25,000 bond.
