A dozen students overdosed Thursday morning at a Los Angeles middle school, authorities said.
The victims, aged between 12 and 15, were “found to be in mild-to-moderate distress” at around 10:30 a.m. when nearly 50 firefighters responded to the Van Nuys Middle School.
Three of them were treated at the scene and released while seven others needed special treatment at local hospitals.
Officials revealed that the incident was not fentanyl-related adding that “specifics of the medical complaints and possible substance(s) will be completed by hospital personnel.”
“This is not any sort of fentanyl-affiliated overdose. We want to make sure everybody knows that,” the Los Angeles Fire Department added in a news release.
