The fears of a 10-year-old Wisconsin boy’s family became reality last week when he fatally shot his mom in the face for not buying him a VR headset.
Quiana Mann, 44, died on November 21 after her son stole the keys to her gun lock box the night before and later shot her in the face.
Investigators initially thought the boy accidentally fired the shot but later learned that following the tragedy he went on Amazon and bought the Oculus Virtual Reality Headset he had wanted.
Hours later, the preteen attacked a younger cousin before revealing to his grandmother that he was “really sorry for what happened. I’m sorry for killing my mom.” He then asked if an Amazon package arrived.
The family said that they had always been concerned with the boy’s “rage issues” after he nearly killed a puppy when was only 4 and set his home on fire months before the shooting.
Authorities said that the boy said that he could hear five imaginary people talking to him. Police said that he understood the fatal consequences of firing a gun but claimed that he only wanted to hit the wall to “scare” his mother.
