US Customs and Border Protection said that the shooting occurred at the Ysleta Border Patrol Station where the victim was detained.
Following the shooting, the Mexican citizen was rushed to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
It was confirmed that Border Patrol agents were involved in the incident but further circumstances were undisclosed.
