Former Texas jail warden, brother accused of ‘hate crime’ for allegedly shooting migrant who stopped for water

A former jail warden and his brother are accused of killing an undocumented migrant and wounding another after when they stopped for water at an El Paso area reservoir on Sept. 27.

Mark Sheppard and Michael Sheppard, both 60, were busted for the alleged “hate crime” after the FBI was called to investigate the incident that took place 93 miles southeast of El Paso, Texas.

    He and his brother fired shots at migrants taking cover in some brushes after yelling expletives at the group. Michael told detectives that they were there “hunting” and fired shots at a “javelina.”

    One migrant died at the scene while the other was struck in the stomach.
