Rapper “Half Ounce” was identified as the victim of a Monday fatal shooting, the latest of a string of murders targeting rap artists in recent years.
The 32-year-old victim, born Latauriisha O’Brian, was found dead outside an apartment building in the Koreatown neighborhood at around 11:30 a.m.
Authorities said that a man wearing dark clothing was spotted fleeing south on New Hampshire Avenue in a dark vehicle after the shooting. The motive for the killing remains unknown.
The rapper’s pregnant wife said that she was on the phone with him when he was shot. She added that he was walking with a friend at the time of the shooting.
Half Ounce is the third rapper killed in Los Angeles County in one month after rapper PnB Rock and Kee Riches.
