Dead newborn found face down in Georgia creek

A lifeless “underdeveloped” newborn was found face down in a Catoosa County, Georgia creek earlier this week and authorities are now looking for the mother.

The Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office said that the grisly discovery was made on Tuesday, at the edge of the creek near the state’s border with Tennessee.

“At about 1:00 p.m., Catoosa County deputies were called to the Graysville Canoe Launch regarding a lifeless, underdeveloped infant lying face down at the edge of South Chickamauga Creek with the umbilical cord and placenta still attached.”

  • “Investigators believe that the infant was brought to the area sometime earlier in the day,” the sheriff’s office said.

    Sheriff Gary Sisk urged witnesses to come forward if they spotted a vehicle or person in the area before 1 p.m. Tuesday.

    “We know that someone is going through a very tragic time in their life, and we want to help,” he added.
