Spartanburg news, South Carolina news.

A South Carolina mom was fatally shot by her 3-year-old who found an “unsecured firearm” in their Spartanburg residence, police said Wednesday.

Deputies responded to the scene at around 7:45 a.m. and found Cora Lyn Bush, 33, suffering a gunshot wound. The toddler and the victim’s mother were also at the scene.

“Although our investigation remains active, all indications are this incident was a result of the young child gaining access to an unsecured firearm, which resulted in the mother being accidentally shot and later passing away at the hospital,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
