Hamilton County news, Ohio news.

An Ohio mom who lost a second infant as a result of co-sleeping is charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Brooke Hunter’s six-week-old baby died in June from co-sleeping almost a year after another infant of hers died in similar circumstances.

“Because of the prior incident, the Hamilton County Coroner’s Officer ruled the second child’s death a homicide,” Hamilton County Prosecutor Amy Clausing said.

“The AAP understands and respects that many parents choose to routinely bed share for a variety of reasons, including facilitation of breastfeeding, cultural preferences, and belief that it is better and safer for their infant,” the American Academy of Pediatrics’ website reads.

“However, based on the evidence, we are unable to recommend bed sharing under any circumstances.”
