A Yorktown highway worker was killed at his workplace Tuesday when a senior driver plowed his car into a project site.
28-year-old Jake Arcara did not survive his injuries following the crash at a drainage project in the upper Westchester town.
“He was a longtime member of our community who found his dream job in the Yorktown highway department,” Supervisor Matt Slater said of Arcara.
“Had his whole life in front of him, engaged to a wonderful person. He was incredibly well-liked, he was well-liked in the highway department, incredible work ethic, incredible attitude, and had his whole life in front of him. It’s just surreal that we’re going through this.”
Slater added that the senior driver involved in the crash is a longtime member of the community, just like the victim.
“The reality is this was a genuine tragedy,” he concluded.
