Illinois man stabs elderly parents to death moments after neighbors heard him ‘yelling threats’

A Highland Park, Illinois couple was found dead from multiple stab wounds on Wednesday shortly after their son was heard “yelling threats” at their apartment.

Concerned neighbors called 911 asking for a wellness check at around 10 a.m. once there, officers were told “Don’t Shoot!” and spotted blood under the apartment’s door.

  • 45-year-old Barry Goldberg was arrested at the scene. The bodies of his parents, 79-year-old Ronald Goldberg and 74-year-old Renee Goldberg, were found inside.

    Goldberg was reportedly covered in blood at the time of his arrest; he has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
