The frantic search for a missing Olympia High School student ended with his arrest on murder charges after detectives determined he had staged his own disappearance to cover up the murder of his mother’s ex-boyfriend.
Gabriel Davies, 16, was found wandering with no shirt and no shoes hours after he left his blood-spattered vehicle and broken phone behind.
“Davies initially told a detective that he could not remember what had happened to him, or where he had been during his disappearance,” prosecutors said.
“He later stated that he could not say what had happened to him because people were going to hurt him.”
Authorities added that Davies and a second juvenile broke into the 51-year-old victim’s home before shooting and stabbing him to death.
They now face first and second-degree murder charges.
