A Missouri man is accused of shooting his wife at close range killing her in their Clinton home Sunday evening.
At around 6:15 p.m., Ryan Alexander called police to report that he fatally shot his wife Ashton Christine Alexander in the 400 block of East Louise Avenue.
Officers found Ashton dead inside the front door along a living room wall. She was shot at least seven times in the face. There were gunpowder burns suggesting the shooting occurred at close range.
Evidence showed that Alexander kept shooting his wife after she fell to the ground. He used a 9 mm Smith & Wesson semiautomatic pistol.
A neighbor told detectives that he spotted Alexander leaving the home like a “bat out of hell like they had been fighting” before hearing the gunshots.
The shooting took place at around 5 p.m. but Alexander did not call the police until over an hour later. Investigators believe he had been drunk at the time of his arrest.
