North Carolina teacher, 2 children found dead in home in double murder-suicide

Authorities in Carolina Forest are investigating the deaths of an elementary school employee and her two kids as a double murder-suicide after their bodies were found Wednesday.

The Horry County Police Department identified the woman as 42-year-old Laura Moberly describing her as a “suspect” in the incident report.

“Once officers arrived on scene, they tried to make contact with the residents with no contact made,” the report read.

  • “Officers forced entry at the front door and located the suspect and 2 victims inside the home unresponsive and not breathing. EMS was contacted and after arriving on scene they pronounced all 3 deceased.”

    The HCPD mourned the deaths of the two children, identified as an 11-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl, and did not mention Moberly, their mother.

    “What we can say at this point is that the incident remains under investigation,” the county’s public information officer added.
