A Texas deputy was shot and killed over the weekend while picking up dinner for his family, authorities said.
Deputy Constable Omar Ursin, 37, was fatally shot behind the wheel of a Ford Focus at around 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
“It is with heavy hearts and utter disbelief that we share the tragic news of the senseless murder of one of our own,” Harris County Precinct 3 Constable Sherman Eagleton said.
Eagleton added that no suspects were named and asked witnesses to come forward. He said that investigators believe the suspect fled in a black sedan.
“The reason for the shooting at this point is unknown,” Sgt. Dennis Wolfford said.
“We don’t know if it was road rage. We don’t know if it has something to do with him being law enforcement. We’re still trying to determine that.”
