A night of damaging storms across the Midwest and South killed at least four people and left one million homes and businesses without electricity, local authorities reported.
The inclement weather conditions including strong wind gusts knocked down trees and power lines causing separate deadly incidents that claimed the lives of two children and two adults in Michigan, Arkansas, Texas, and Ohio.
Over 500,000 Indianans spent Monday night in the dark, similar to 640,000 residents in Michigan, according to PowerOutage.
Electricity provider Consumers Energy said in a statement that 350 crews were deployed to restore the downed power lines in more than thirty counties.
“Yesterday’s severe storms packed a big punch as they pushed through our state. Today’s dry and hazard-free weather conditions are on our side.”
However, Accuweather’s forecast for the day reveals more downpours and winds shifting to Washington, Baltimore, and Philadelphia though not as intense as Monday’s storms.
