Widow of slain Indiana firefighter charged with his murder: ‘Truly one of Evansville’s bravest’

An Indiana woman and her boyfriend were charged with the 2019 murder of her firefighter husband who was shot dead outside his Evansville home as he returned from work.

Elizabeth Fox-Doerr, 50, and Larry Richmond Sr., 41, reportedly planned to kill Robert Doerr, according to Richmond’s confession to a fellow inmate.

“This senseless selfless act will forever leave a void in Robby’s family, his friends, and his coworkers,” Evansville Police Chief Billy Bolin said.

    The 51-year-old firefighter was shot three times by Richmond. Fox-Doerr then deleted her calls with Richmond before contacting 911.

    “We are relieved that the long wait is over and the individuals involved in this murder are being brought to justice for not only Robby’s murder but the pain they have caused his family, his friends, and our department,” Evansville Fire Chief Mike Larson said.
