An Irvine toddler was fatally struck Tuesday afternoon by an Amazon delivery van, police said.
The 23-month-old girl was struck in the parking lot of an apartment community located in the 300 block of Estancia at around 3:30 p.m.
“Preliminary, it appears a collision occurred in the parking lot between an Amazon van and the child,” the Irvine Police Department said. “The van is operated by a third party contractor.”
The baby was pronounced dead at the scene by officers and Orange County Fire Authority personnel.
Preliminary reports suggest that alcohol and drugs “do not appear to be a factor.”
